What does Alberto's company do?

SAIET Engineering equips distribution centers worldwide for the courier, express, and parcel industry (CEP) with innovative logistics solutions. Customers of the Italian engineering company, such as GLS, FedEx, DHL, SDA, and BRT, must ensure the system availability and keep delivery times to the end customer as short as possible.

What is essential for the competition?

There is much pressure on OEMs like SAIET. Because while the volume of shipments continues to grow, the workforce in the labor market is shrinking. The systems must become faster and guarantee high performance, while at the same time being energy-efficient and reducing human intervention to a minimum.

Automated solutions are needed. The trend is towards lights-out systems and decentralized micro-warehouses - for which SAIET's main competitors have extremely short delivery times of two to three months until final installation. Competitiveness is required here.

What does the Lenze solution look like?

We supported SAIET from the start of planning the parcel distribution system (GLS/BRT) with our know-how as automation experts and the latest technology to optimize the material flow and availability of the system and increase throughput. The aim was to create a system that is dynamic, energy-efficient, and easy to install and commission.

With 6,000 parcels per hour, these requirements are also met on peak sales days such as Cyber Monday and Black Friday.

The decentralized i550 motec frequency inverter plays a crucial role in this, thanks above all to its excellent dimensioning and thus variant reduction, its integrated regenerative function, and its simple installation and easy commissioning.

Dimensioning

With our "Easy System Designer", we design the dimensions exactly as the system needs them. That ensures that no energy is wasted.

Variant reduction

A high degree of standardization in conjunction with the i550 motec also increases efficiency: the reduced variants reduce the costs for spare parts and their storage, for example. The susceptibility to errors during installation is minimized.

Energy recovery

Thanks to the regenerative capability implemented in the i550 motec, regenerative energy is fed back directly - saving additional components and energy. At the same time, the CO₂ footprint is minimized by up to seven percent, depending on the application.
