Stopping of communication via CAN after voltage supply interruption of the modular system
Question:
How long may the voltage supply be interrupted, without leading to a CAN communication stopping?
Answer:
According to the standard a bypass of 10 ms in case of a supply voltage interruption is ensured.
The actual bypass time will be higher. It depends on the load of the internal power supply and consequently on the number and type of the modules plugged in the gateway.
After a longer current interruption the module will initialise again and the system will be in status 'Pre-Operational'. An NMT telegram of a CAN master is required in order to re-establish the process data communication.
