Lenze showcases materials handling technology for energy-efficient material flow in battery production at Hannover Messe 2025
Hamelin, March 30, 2025. Together with Bosch Rexroth, DBR 77, FANUC, Fraunhofer FFB, IBG, KEYENCE, SCHUNK and Vision Lasertechnik, the drive and automation specialist from Hamelin is presenting the "Battery cell production" project at the Hannover Messe (31 March - 4 April). Using a model production process, the partners will demonstrate in the Application Park in Hall 6, Stand D51, how the robot-assisted production of battery cells and battery packs for electric vehicles can be scaled up and optimised.
The partners are combining various technologies to make production processes scalable, increase resource efficiency, promote CO₂ neutrality and enable sustainable value chains. In this way, they open up new perspectives for more efficient and flexible production in various branches of industry.
The demands on battery production are constantly increasing. The process must become more flexible, more transparent and more intelligent. The partners in the "Battery Cell Production" project are delivering innovations that give the process the necessary manoeuvrability and speed for the future. All components, modules and system solutions are based on open interfaces and are sized for optimal networking with each other. This reduces the complexity of automation projects and increases the overall productivity and availability of the plants. At the same time, there is a wide scope for manoeuvre thanks to flexible expansion options.
In view of rising energy costs and the need to conserve resources, reducing energy consumption in production is a key concern. Energy-efficient production processes help to reduce operating costs and make an important contribution to environmental protection. At the plant, Lenze will be showcasing solutions for materials handling technology (infeed/outfeed), which are crucial for energy-efficient and reliable material flow in battery production. These drive systems enable the precise and reliable transport of raw materials and finished products within the production line. Lenze also equips machines and plants for battery production, from the manufacture of the thinnest copper foils to materials handling technology in mounting and warehouse automation. For the use of robotics in manufacturing processes, the drive and automation specialist from Aerzen offers Controllers and servo drives that ensure full integration and scalability thanks to the automation system's open interfaces.
