System error in the 9400 servo drive after starting oscilloscope recording

Corrected from:
Engineer V2.30
EASY Starter V1.16
Servo drive 9400 HighLine V15.00.09
Servo drive 9400 Servo PLC V9.00.09

Response of the new version:
In Engineer and EASY Starter, the oscilloscope was corrected so that it no longer causes the system error in the device.

What happens?

After starting oscilloscope recording, a system error occurs in the 9400 servo drive (red drive error LED is constantly on). The following error message is displayed in code C0180:

Watchdogreset or PC was set to zero during bootup or power down, Task: INVALID TASK, Task-id:0x0000

When does this behaviour occur?
The above-described system error may occur when starting oscilloscope recording (<Start recording> button) and oscilloscope recording with channel triggering (signal source = channel) has been configured for the 9400 servo drive in the Engineer or EASY Starter and the trigger value of the channel has not been changed (value = 0).

The system error in the 9400 servo drive has to be reset by switching the mains or by executing the command C0002 = 11000 (= Restart controller).

Which products are affected?
Engineer V2.27 and higher
EASY Starter V1.13 and higher
Servo drive 9400 HighLine
Servo drive 9400 Servo PLC

Short-term measures:

Proceed as follows to start oscilloscope recording in the 9400 servo drive:

  1. After every restart of the 9400 servo drive, configure the oscilloscope with the signal source 'Forced trigger', start recording and load the record from the servo drive to the engineering tool.
  2. For recording with a channel as trigger: Every time a new channel trigger is selected (in the trigger selection dialog), manually set the trigger value to a value unequal 0 and confirm your selection with <Return>. Then enter the required trigger value. Now you can start oscilloscope recording.

Evaluation/recommendations:
Under the above-described conditions, a system error may occur when starting oscilloscope recording in the 9400 servo drive. In this case, the power section of the servo drive will be inhibited and the motor will switch to torque-free operation. A holding brake controlled by the 9400 will apply. An applicative solution is described under 'Short-term measures'.
