What happens?
After an update of the device firmware, a current device description file matching the device firmware is automatically used by the engineering and maintenance tools. The update and the updated device description also update the object description for the safety parameters. This can lead to the following effects:
  1. Safety objects are displayed with a red background: It is possible that more objects are displayed under the category "Safety parameters" than the safety firmware currently used on the unit. These safety objects that do not exist in the unit are displayed with a red background.
  2. Safety objects are only displayed with the value of the factory setting: For safety objects that can be read (i.e. are displayed in yellow) but whose values are not set correctly by the safety firmware, only the value of the factory setting is shown. There is no further indication.
When does the behaviour occur?
Occurs after updating the unit firmware on existing i950ES units to a version that supports a unit description with a safety firmware that is newer than the existing safety firmware in the unit.

Which products are affected:
i950 Extended Safety

Short-term measures / evaluation / recommendations:
The safe parameter transfer (down-/upload) is not affected by the described behaviour. If you want to avoid the effects described, select a device firmware that matches the device description file. You can find the assignment here.
