Parameterizable TAs: For the functionality of the parameterizable TAs (0x4000 = 1...51), the basic device firmware i950 also includes the required technology applications (TA), technology modules (TM) and the library L_MC1P_MotionControlBasic, each in the assigned versions, see overview table. When the basic device firmware is updated, the assigned versions of these software modules are thus automatically loaded.
TA-User, CiA402: For the other applications (0x4000 = 0; 10000), the basic device firmware only affects the basic functions of the device, such as motor control, encoder evaluation, fieldbus communication, etc. Depending on the application, different updates are therefore required in order to use functional enhancements or to benefit from fixes to known functional limitations.
device description file:
For the engineering tools, a device description file is required to display the parameters </span For each of the above-mentioned version combinations a suitable device description file is provided via Package Manager.
Updating the firmware:
Extended Safety (ES): The firmware for the safety option cannot be updated by the customer.
The firmware update of the basic device however is possible at any time. After updating only the firmware of the basic device, the associated newer device description file is used in the tools . This may contain additional safety parameters that are not yet implemented in the older safety version.
In den Tools these parameters are then displayed as not accessible (highlighted in red) . However, the function of the basic device and the extended safety function is not affected by this.
