Function extension:
From PLC Designer V4.0, direct access to all IO channels of a device is now possible via the device name.
This means that IO mapping in the fieldbus editor is no longer necessary.
A combination with the previous methods (mapping to an existing variable, mapping to a new variable and absolute addressing) is still possible.
Symbolic access is activated by a switch in the PLC settings.
Note:
The symbolic access cannot be used with FAST Motion devices that have an AXIS_REF. These variables may only be accessed read-only using the mapping method "Create new variable". Neither the mapping method "Map to existing variable" nor any other assignment type may be used.
