Windows 11 upgrade causes blue screen

What happens?
When installing the Windows 11 upgrade, a blue screen occurs.

When does the behaviour occur?
A Windows blue screen may occur if the EASY Starter software is installed on the PC and an upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is installed.
 
Which products are affected?
EASY Starter - all versions

Short-term measures:
Stop and disable the following services before upgrading to Windows 11:

  • LIpSetupService
  • LDirectDriver
You can do this as follows:
  1. Start the Windows Services app and select the LIpSetupService service:

  2. Select Stop from the action menu. The selected service will be terminated.
  3. From the action menu, select Properties. The properties of the LlpSetupService service are displayed in a dialog.

  4. In this dialog, select the entry Disabled under Startup type and confirm the dialog via the <Apply> button.
  5. Repeat these steps 1. to 4. for the service LDirectDriver.
  6. The Windows 11 upgrade can now be installed.
  7. After installing the upgrade, the services LlpSetupService and LDirectDriver must be restarted and the startup type must be set to Automatic for the EASY Starter to work properly.
Evaluation / recommendations:
When upgrading to Windows 11, a blue screen may occur if an EASY Starter is installed on the PC. An applicative solution is described under Short-term measures.
