VPN client installation and uninstallation
Our VPN client is a lightweight application, running in the background on your computer as a service or daemon, that enables you to make a secure VPN connection to your devices from within your web browser.
Install the VPN client
Select your operating system:
- Windows
- macOS
- Linux

Follow these next few steps to install the VPN client on Windows.
Using Mozilla Firefox?
Please close your Mozilla Firefox web browser during the installation.
- Download the VPN client from the Fleet Managers [Tools] page.
- Start the installation by double-clicking the downloaded VPN client executable file and follow the steps in the installation wizard.
- Once the installation has completed, refresh the X4 Remote web page.

The VPN client will be launched automatically as a Windows Service. Now that you've installed the VPN client, you are ready to .
macOS

Using Mozilla Firefox?
Please close your Mozilla Firefox web browser during the installation.
- Download the VPN client from the Fleet Managers [Tools] page.
- Start the installation by double-clicking the downloaded VPN client executable file and follow the steps in the installation wizard.
- Once the installation has completed, refresh X4 Remote web page.

The VPN client will be launched automatically as a Launch Daemon (launchd). Now that you've installed the VPN client, you are ready to connect to your device using VPN.
Linux

Follow these next few steps to install the VPN client on Linux.
Close Mozilla Firefox
Please close your Mozilla Firefox web browser during the installation.
- Download the VPN client from the Fleet Managers [Tools] page.
- Open a terminal and execute the following command to extract the tarball.
tar -xzf vpn_client_x64.tar.gz
- Change your directory to the extracted setup by executing:
cd VPNclientSetup_en-US
- Run the installation with root privileges by executing:
sudo ./install
VPN client installed - ready for VPN
The VPN client will be launched automatically as a System Daemon (systemd). Now that you've installed the VPN client, you are ready to connect to your device using VPN.
Uninstall the VPN client
Select your operating system:
- Windows
- macOS
- Linux
Windows
- Open your list of installed programs (Programs and Features).
Programs and Features
Simultaneously press Windows + R to open the Run window. Enter "appwiz.cpl" to open Programs and Features.
- Select the “Lenze VPN client” and press [Uninstall].
- Follow the steps in the wizard.
macOS
- Download the uninstall file here.
- Open Terminal.
- Go to the directory where you have placed the downloaded uninstall file.
- Make the file executable:
chmod +x vpn_client_macos_uninstall
- Run the uninstaller as superuser:
sudo ./vpn_client_macos_uninstall
Linux
- Download the VPN client from the Fleet Managers [Tools] page.
- Open Terminal.
- Go to the directory where you have placed the downloaded VPN client
- Unpack the file:
tar -xzf vpn_client_x64.tar.gz
- Open the unpacked folder:
cd vpn_client_x64/
- Run the uninstaller as superuser:
sudo ./uninstall
