Lenze supplies the complete package for automation in the packaging industry
Lenze impresses at Interpack with cloud-based solutions and live presentations
Hamelin/Düsseldorf, May 04, 2023. Interpack is back at last! After a long pandemic-related break, the world's largest trade show for the packaging industry and related process industries is awakening from its slumber. The timing for the comeback is ideal: rising demand, new technologies and a heightened awareness of sustainability offer enormous opportunities for the industry. At Interpack, automation specialist Lenze will be demonstrating how to make the most of this potential through the interaction of hardware, software and services. One highlight at the Lenze stand is the live operation: two customers Niverplast and Heripack will be presenting their latest machines - based on Lenze's innovative automation solutions.
No matter whether it is a question of optimizing an existing system or developing a new packaging machine: Thanks to its know-how and global network, Lenze is able to put a wide variety of customer requirements into practice. In doing so, the automation specialist focuses on the most important requirements of the industry: flexibility and the coverage of a broad product portfolio on one machine, fast adaptations to market needs, early detection of malfunctions, and digital networking to increase resource efficiency. With this platform idea, this merging of the IT world with the OT world, Lenze enables customers from the packaging industry to be a decisive step ahead of the competition.
Service portal for OEMs
Which component is installed? Is the documentation up to date? And if the model and variant are known, how do you find the serial number or the list of error messages? OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) can find answers to these questions in Lenze's white label OEM portal. The cloud-based asset and ticket management system is directly linked to the OEM's machine and informs the service technician at an early stage about any errors that have occurred. In this way, downtime can be avoided via the portal, throughput times can be optimized and the OEE (overall equipment efficiency) of the machines can be increased.
More room to develop new business models
With Nupano, Lenze is building a bridge between OT (operational technology) and IT (information technology). The open automation platform allows companies to bring digital innovations to their machines and to tap the potential of digitalization at the machine level. Even a team without IT knowledge can use it to equip a machine with digital services throughout its entire lifecycle. The platform takes over the management of any number of apps, including their versions, on a growing installed base.
With Nupano, Lenze also relies on open standards, ease of use, and maximum security to protect the machine builder's know-how. The machine and app management offers space for in-house applications and public software modules (commodity apps). Customers can individualize applications without having to program. Practically by drag 'n' drop, the user marries the OT with the IT world. Because Nupano offers both - applications and the overview of the machine as a digital representation - the platform can be used to increase the quality, productivity, sustainability and efficiency of packaging machines.
Live presentations at Interpack
Anyone who wants to find out how Lenze's cloud-based platforms work should take a closer look at Stand D50 in Hall 6. In live operation, the two OEMs Niverplast and Heripack will be demonstrating state-of-the-art machines based on the hardware, software and digital services of the Hamelin-based automation specialist. Niverplast, a global leader in the packaging industry, will be presenting the CombiPlast, a machine for the integrated erection of cartons and placement of pouches, while Heripack will be demonstrating a fully automatic palletizer to the audience. In both cases, Lenze's solutions enable direct communication between components and machines - offering the all-round carefree package from a single source.
