Question: Which ecoder can be connected to a counter module EPM-S602?
Answer:
There are different encoder types.
Line driver When switched on, a line driver supplies Vcc. When switched off, a line driver is pending. For this reason, a sink input is required for proper operation (resistance to GND)
Open collector When switched on, an open collector supplies GND. When switched off, an open collector floats. A sourcing input is required for proper operation (resistance to Vcc).
Push-Pull A push-pull output is a combination of a line driver and an open collector. When switched off it provides GND and when switched on it provides Vcc.
The counter module EPM-S602 supports only 5V-TTL encoders of the type line driver or push-pull.
Sometimes also the specification RS422 is used. This encoder type is also supported.
